About Us

Our Purpose

To create leaders who inspire through story, to help organisations and individuals navigate change and connect people with purpose.

Why Whakaaro?

Traditional corporate leadership programs don’t fit New Zealand’s unique culture. Whakaaro changes that by combining leadership theory with Te Ao Māori values, helping leaders grow in life, work and whānau.

As true leaders, we have chartered our own unique path for transforming leadership development for the future of New Zealand.

Traditional, theory-based leadership programs have limits and don’t last. Whakaaro offers immersive experiences that speed up self-directed, sustainable leadership growth.

Our diverse team inspires new ways of thinking through real-world experience.

Whakaaro understands changing the world starts with changing the way we think.

Who is Whakaaro?

Whakaaro is a team of leaders who have delivered proven results for people and organisations.

We are not theoreticians, but leaders still operating ‘in the fire’.

We provide programs founded in the unique culture of Aotearoa New Zealand, weaving the values of Te Ao Māori together with proven leadership development. We simplify the path to deeper connections between leaders and teams through hands—on learning and shared experiences.

We believe:

1. Leadership is not a title or position; it is a behaviour.

2. Knowledge dispels fear.

3. Great leaders do not create followers; they create other great leaders.
